Meet Dr. Pui-Yee Ho

Dr. Pui-Yee Ho is a long-time Durham region resident.

Pui-Yee’s interest in optometry began while she was a high school student at O’Neill C.V.I. in Oshawa.   She worked at a co-op student at a large optometry practice in Pickering and found that she enjoyed interacting and caring for patients.  She decided that this would be the career for her.

While completing her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees at the University of Waterloo, she worked part-time at another optometric clinic.  This allowed her to gain valuable experience and insight from her mentors.

Dr. Ho completed an externship in ocular disease and therapeutics at Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in Arizona where she gained experience in laser surgery co-management, as well as cataract and ocular disease management technology.

Through volunteer eye care missions, Dr. Ho has provided free eye care to underprivileged locals in developing countries, and has plans to lead optometry students on other mission’s trips.   The Brooklin Optometric Centre collects used glasses for donation to Medical Service International, which is a charitable Christian organization that will match the prescriptions to patients in developing countries that can not otherwise afford them.

Dr. Pui-Yee Ho strongly believes that patient education and disease prevention is vital to enhancing and preserving vision.   By taking the time to get to know her patients, she is able to counsel her patients according to their unique health and vision requirements.

As a proud Brooklin resident, Dr. Ho enjoys being able to serve her community.  She provides on-site eye care to nursing home residents and patients of the Whitby Mental Health Centre who are unable to travel to her office.
